Advanced Course Objectives

Students who successfully complete the advanced elements of this course will be able to:

  1. explain ten basic evidence-based facts about how nutrition can affect cognition and emotions in vulnerable individuals.
  2. identify the applications and contraindications of ten advanced nutrients available over-the-counter in health food stores, used to improve cognitive function and emotional balance.
  3. apply the principles of this course to their own lives to improve their ability to perform professionally.
  4. explain how nutrition relates to psychotherapy scope of practice citing relevant statutes, BBS disciplinary standards and APA ethics guidelines.
  5. explain how research design issues have impacted nutrition research in the twentieth century, and how these issues are being addressed by contemporary research.
